The press continues to promote accusations of white racism against George Zimmerman, who was indicted for second degree murder in April after shooting black youth Trayvon Martin. Now, according to a Florida TV Station, Eric Holder’s FBI is threatening to charge Zimmerman with a federal “Hate Crime,” claiming that he “profiled and stalked” Martin before killing him.
George Zimmerman’s picture has been all over the media every day. Am I the only one who’s noticed that he doesn’t look like a white supremacist? Do people really think he looks like someone who could join the KKK or the Aryan Nations?
Apparently Jesse Jackson thinks so. When Zimmerman was released on bail in late April, Jackson predictably said that the court was showing racism by letting that evil honky out of his holding cell. “We are disappointed that the bond was set so low”, said Jackson. “Tomorrow Mr. Zimmerman’s freedom will be restored. This decision cheapens black life. Justice should serve as a deterrent. The U.S. Department of Justice and the FBI must play a critical role in this matter because this is a Civil Rights case. Racial profiling and killings have become a national pattern.”
Racial profiling and killings?
Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and just about everybody else on the left have decided to portray the killing of Trayvon Martin as a deliberate case of inter-racial terrorism. The narrative these grievance industry demagogues have chosen is that Zimmerman is a whitey who hates blacks so much that he went out hunting for one with a loaded gun in his hand.
The news media have largely supported Jackson and Sharpton, as they inevitably do. But one look at a picture of George Zimmerman undermines the Jackson/Sharpton/media narrative. All of Zimmerman’s maternal ancestors are black or Hispanic, and Zimmerman looks it. But, as usual, liberals in the media are not going to let a few mere facts get in the way of a politically correct crusade.
