It’s been another busy week in the news. National Review is reporting that Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker is beginning to win his PR war with the public employees’ unions. The latest polls show that he’s increased his lead to eight percentage points in the recall election the unions engineered against him. And public opinion is swinging his way on many of the specific issues as well.
Gangster General Eric Holder continues to stay busy. His latest outrage is browbeating a university into opening up its women’s restrooms to a man who wears dresses. Campus Reform reports that “A letter from the Department of Justice (DOJ) caused the University of Arkansas at Ft. Smith (UAFS) early this month to reverse policy and allow a 38-year old anatomically male-student permanent use of women’s bathrooms on campus despite opposition from female students.”
Human Events has a good write-up on Democrats refusing to vote for Obama in Presidential primaries. In three primaries, so far, the President has been unable to pull in even 60% of the Democrat primary vote. Here’s the best laugh line in the article: “as of 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, ‘uncommitted’ was actually defeating the sitting President of the United States in 60 counties.”
It will be interesting to see what happens in November, when the President has to run against an actual opponent.
The Wall Street Journal has all the facts on the Pakistani government, which rakes in millions of dollars in foreign aid from the poor dumb American taxpayers, punishing the doctor who helped the US find Osama bin Laden. For helping the US find the world’s number one terrorist, the doctor has been sentenced to thirty-three years in a Pakistani prison.
Author Edward Klein has written an interesting column on Valerie Jarrett, the White House power broker who seems to be able to control access to the President. Klein, who just published a book about the Obama presidency, claims that the power Jarrett holds via her personal friendship with the Obamas is unprecedented in US history.
I actually have my doubts about that. From what I know about the relationship between FDR and an aide named Harry Hopkins, I’d say that the Valerie Jarrett situation is just one more parallel between Presidents Roosevelt and Obama. Perhaps that should be the subject of a future post.
